Be creative, do some sports, do your homework or find a girlfriend.

Still scared to take some breaks because you would lose your skills? Read on!

Your skills will improve

You wont unlearn actions you do frequently. So if you’re that kind of gamer that feels his mouse and keyboard (which probably means you’re the one that’s scared to lose skills) you wont unlearn it at all. You’re used to it and just like the bike-theory it will feel a bit strange after a break, but you’ll get the hang of it again in no time.

But still … IMPROVE skills?

Yes they will most likely improve. When you play alot you develop your own style and then edit it depending on what actions are the most important and so on. This also means you could develop a style that isn’t optimized at all, you might need to go a few steps back and walk a new path.

You know it when a clanmate says you should move a bit different or you’re sensitivity of your mouse is too low/high. It isn’t easy to unlearn your habbit and get used to that new style!

That’s where the break comes to the rescue. By taking this break you will feel a bit strange when playing again, but your brain still knows how everything works. While your skills are kind of recovering, you’re developing a new style according to the situation you’re playing in. So better play on a deathmatch server or something where you can easly retry and continiously play.

Your brain got some time to recover

I know you don’t like to hear it, but taking breaks (eventually long ones) is healthy for you.

This small tip is actually meant for people who already play wars, eventually with a specific team.

So you maybe have your own spot at every map yet, or maybe not. Try finding your own defending spot for every map and try to play it at official wars. Mine for example is A short at de_dust2.
So training at a public server isn’t always like it would be in a war, so not really good practice. But you don’t play enough wars to get skilled maybe… That’s what i’ll help you with!

First open the map you want to train on:

map de_dust2

Join the CT team since you’ll have to defend

Now in the console type: (or just buy equipment)

sv_cheats 1
give weapon_m4; give weapon_deagle

After that we have a few things to set before lauching the bots.

mp_limmitteams 10
mp_autoteambalance 0

Now the bots can join:

add_bot_t (add this line 10x, you can do this by simple pressing the up arrow and enter)

The bots now joined, but you can’t handle 10 bots if they all come together! So we’re going to prevend them from shooting at you:

bot_dont_shoot 1

Now simply go to your spot, they may come from other directions! But in wars you’ll have to rotate to other spots too and now you’ll learn spotting enemies without friends telling you in ventrilo. The bots wont harm you anyways.
They’ll come all together most of the times, perfect occasion to train your spraying skills with the m4 and trigger essential headshots with an deagle. Also try to wait for them behind corners and instantkill them. It will come in handy!
